彼 means "he, him, boyfriend."
He, That Person - Refers to a specific person, usually someone known to the speaker.
Those People - Refers to a group of people, usually known to the speaker.
The Other Person, Thing - Refers to someone or something that is not the speaker or the people the speaker is talking to.
He won't have a look-in.
He's been having trouble with back pain for years.
Her dress looked cheap.
He's somewhere about the park.
He thought irritably.
She spends a lot of money on clothes.
