    An arthropod. Many varieties. 螃蟹 (freshwater crab) is found in fresh water. Head and thorax shell is very broad. Becomes smaller toward the abdomen. Abdominal shell has horizontal stripes. Has five pairs of legs. The first pair are pincers. Those found in the sea are slightly larger than freshwater crabs. Commonly called 青蟹 (blue crab). Those with pointed shell ends on both sides are commonly called 梭子蟹 (shuttle crab).
