A tree name. Three to four zhang tall. Rather large leaves, red when tender, fragrant and sweet and edible. Commonly called 香椿 (Chinese toon). The wood is solid, usable for implements. From "Zhuangzi": "In ancient times there was a great toon tree that counted eight thousand years as spring and eight thousand years as autumn." Now this phrase is often used in birthday wishes. Also, father is called 椿庭, as the toon tree is a symbol of longevity, meaning an elder.
