癒 (yu / iyasu) is healing as comfort — and one of the defining characters of modern Japan: 癒し (iyashi), “healing”, is the word for everything soothing, from forest walks to cat cafés to slow music; an 癒し系 person is the “healing type” whose presence calms a room. The sickness radical 疒 wraps 愈, “to get better”: recovery drawn from the inside.

治 (chi / ji / naosu) is healing as restoring order — the same character governs rivers, nations and fevers: 治療 (medical treatment), 政治 (politics), 明治 (the Meiji era, “enlightened rule”). To 治る is to get well; to 治める is to govern. Japanese sees one act in both: setting things right.

療 (ryō) is the clinical half — 医療 (healthcare), 療養 (recuperation), 治療 (treatment). And time keeps its old reputation: 日にち薬 — “the medicine of days” — is the folk phrase for wounds only the calendar can close.

Before you use Heal kanji

癒 is the warm choice — healing as comfort, the iyashi Japan itself prizes — and reads gently on skin. 治 alone can read "govern" as easily as "heal"; 療 alone reads hospital-clinical. For a healer by calling, 癒 or the pair 治癒 (full recovery) say it; for the scarred-and-mended, 日にち薬 — time's medicine — is the phrase with the story in it.
