    The traditional form of 栄. 木, the tree, under a reduced 熒 — two fires above a cover — which supplies the sound; the character's sense is blossom, and so flourishing. The postwar reform adopted the long-current handwritten abbreviation 栄, in which the two fires become a three-stroke crown over the same cover.
