    A fish name. Flat and broad shape. Small head with pointed mouth. Fine scales. Often lies flat at the bottom of water. Divided into two sides. The underside is white, smooth and scaleless. The upper side is mud-sand colored. Some lie on their right side with both eyes on the left side. Some lie on their left side with both eyes on the right side. Hence some are called 鰜 and some 鰈. Colloquially all are called 鰨魚. Or called 版魚 (board fish). Or called 比目魚 (flatfish). Because both eyes are on one side.
