雎鳩. Another name for the osprey. It is fierce yet has distinctions. Therefore, when Shao Hao used birds to name officials, the one in charge of laws as Minister of War was called 雎鳩氏. The male and female of this bird follow each other without being overly familiar. Hence the Book of Odes says "Guan guan cries the osprey" to symbolize the spouse of a gentleman.
