A vegetable plant. Grows in lakes and marshes of Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Leaves are elliptical. Stems and leaves are all covered with mucilaginous liquid. Can be made into soup. Jin dynasty's Zhang Han was a secretary in the Grand Marshal's East Bureau. When he saw the autumn wind rise, he thought of the wild rice, brasenia soup, and perch sashimi of Wu. So he ordered his carriage and returned home. Appears in the "Book of Jin, Biography."
