    A surname. Shennong lived by the Jiang River, hence took it as surname. Later Taigong was enfeoffed at Qi. For generations they intermarried with Zhou. Many Zhou empresses and noble ladies were women of Qi. Hence it became a prominent surname for women. (Book of Odes) "When taking a wife, must she be a Jiang of Qi?" This is that meaning.
